All of my paintings are rooted in drawing - but sometimes the drawing takes on a life of its own.  Whether in charcoal or oil stick, the figures are shaped by observation, imagination, humour and memory's edits - partial bodies, masked faces, fragments caught somewhere between the familiar and the invented.
